Author Guidelines

Jurnal Kepemimpinan dan Manajemen Keperawatan (JKMK)

Jurnal Kepemimpinan dan Manajemen Keperawatan (JKMK) publishes high-quality scholarly articles in nursing leadership, nursing management, nursing administration, health service management, nursing education management, patient safety, quality improvement, healthcare organization, and related fields.

JKMK accepts the following article types:

  • Research Article

  • Review Article

  • Case Study

Manuscripts may be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia. However, the Title, Abstract, and Keywords must always be written in English, regardless of the language used in the main text.

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.


1. Submission Files

Authors must upload the following files during submission.

1.1 Manuscript Anonymous (.docx)

The manuscript used for peer review must not contain any information that could identify the authors.

The anonymous manuscript should include only:

  • Article title (English)

  • Abstract (English)

  • Keywords (English)

  • Main text

  • Tables

  • Figures

  • References

  • Acknowledgments (if anonymized)

  • Supplementary citations within the text

The following information must NOT appear in the anonymous manuscript:

  • Author names

  • Institutional affiliations

  • ORCID iDs

  • Corresponding author information

  • Email addresses

  • Funding information that directly identifies the institution or authors (if it compromises anonymous review)

  • Author contribution statement

  • Conflict of interest statement identifying authors

Authors are responsible for removing identifying information from document properties and tracked changes before submission.


1.2 Title Page (.docx)

The Title Page is uploaded separately and is not sent to reviewers.

The Title Page should contain:

  • Article title

  • Running title (maximum 50 characters), if applicable

  • Full name of each author

  • Institutional affiliation of each author

  • ORCID iD of each author

  • Corresponding author's name

  • Corresponding author's affiliation

  • Complete postal address

  • Email address

  • Telephone number (optional)

  • Author Contributions (CRediT or narrative format)

  • Funding Statement

  • Conflict of Interest Statement

  • Acknowledgments

  • Data Availability Statement (if applicable)


1.3 Supplementary Files

Supplementary files should be uploaded separately from the manuscript.

The required supplementary files depend on the article type.

Research Article

Authors should upload, where applicable:

  • Reporting guideline checklist (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, COREQ, SRQR, SQUIRE, TREND)

  • Study protocol (optional)

  • Ethical approval letter

  • Research instruments or questionnaires

  • Statistical analysis plan (if applicable)

  • Additional tables or figures

  • Raw or processed datasets (optional)

  • Other supporting materials

Review Article

Authors should upload, where applicable:

  • PRISMA 2020 Checklist

  • PRISMA Flow Diagram

  • Complete search strategy

  • Data extraction form

  • Risk of Bias or Critical Appraisal results

  • Additional tables

  • Supplementary figures

  • Other supporting materials

Case Study

Authors should upload, where applicable:

  • CARE Checklist

  • Written informed consent for publication (when required)

  • Ethical approval or institutional permission (if applicable)

  • Additional photographs, figures, or appendices

  • Other supporting materials

The editorial office may request additional supplementary materials whenever necessary.


2. Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript should be prepared using the official JKMK manuscript template.

General formatting:

  • Microsoft Word (.docx)

  • A4 paper size

  • Times New Roman 12 pt

  • 1.5 line spacing

  • Continuous page numbering


3. Language

JKMK accepts manuscripts in either:

  • English

  • Bahasa Indonesia

Regardless of the manuscript language, the following components must be written in English:

  • Title

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

Authors are responsible for ensuring the quality of English language used in these sections.


4. Title

The title should:

  • be written in English;

  • clearly describe the content of the manuscript;

  • avoid abbreviations whenever possible;

  • be concise and informative.


5. Abstract

The Abstract must be written in English.

Recommended length:

200–250 words

Research Article

The abstract should be structured as:

  • Background

  • Objective

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

Review Article

The abstract should include:

  • Background

  • Objective

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

Case Study

The abstract should include:

  • Background

  • Case Presentation

  • Intervention

  • Outcome

  • Conclusion

References should not be cited in the abstract.


6. Keywords

Provide 3–6 keywords in English.

Authors are encouraged to use internationally recognized terminology (e.g., MeSH where appropriate).

8. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should:

  • be cited in numerical order;

  • have concise titles;

  • not duplicate information presented in the text;

  • be editable whenever possible.


9. Reporting Guidelines

Authors are expected to follow internationally recognized reporting guidelines appropriate to the study design.

Examples include:

Authors may be requested to submit the completed reporting checklist during manuscript submission.


10. Publication Ethics

Submitted manuscripts must comply with internationally accepted standards of publication ethics.

Authors must ensure that:

  • the work is original;

  • the manuscript is not submitted elsewhere;

  • all authors meet authorship criteria;

  • conflicts of interest are disclosed;

  • funding sources are declared;

  • ethical approval is stated whenever applicable;

  • informed consent has been obtained whenever required.

Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate image manipulation, and citation manipulation are not acceptable.


11. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only to improve language, readability, or grammar.

AI tools:

  • must not be listed as authors;

  • must not generate or manipulate research data;

  • must not fabricate references;

  • must be disclosed when their use has materially assisted manuscript preparation.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all submitted work.


12. References

References should:

  • be relevant;

  • be up to date;

  • include DOI whenever available;

  • follow the APA 7th Edition citation style.

The use of reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero) is strongly recommended.


13. Peer Review

All submissions undergo:

  1. Initial editorial assessment

  2. Double-anonymous peer review

  3. Editorial decision

Editorial decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Authors receiving revision requests should submit:

  • Revised manuscript

  • Point-by-point response to reviewers

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Authors, reviewers, and registered users are responsible for ensuring that the information they provide is accurate and up to date. Users may contact the journal manager or editorial office if they need to update, correct, or request information regarding their personal data.
