of motion.

ABSTRACT
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative health disorder in which there is stiffness and
inflammation in the joints which is characterized by damage to the joint cartilage which
can cause pain in the joints of the neck, hands, back, and most often the knees.
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a combination of contrast
bathsand range of motion on reducing pain scale in osteoarthritis patients in
KaligermanVillage, Karanggeneng District, Lamongan Regency.
The research design used a pre-experimental (one group pre-post-test), using a
consecutive sampling technique with 31 respondents. The independent variables
ofthe study are bath contrast and range of motion with the dependent variable
pain scale. The instruments used were observation sheets, SOP contrast bath and
range of motion. The results showed that the average difference in pain scale
before beinggiven an intervention was 4.03 and after being given an intervention,
it was 2.65. The Wilcoxon pre-post pain scale statistical test with a significant
value of p=0.001 (p<0.005) had the effect of a combination of contrast bath and
range of motion on reducing the pain scale in patients with osteoarthritis in
Kaligerman Village, Karanggeneng District, Lamongan Regency. The provision of
therapy is expected to increase the degree of public health and become an
alternative non-medical therapyin reducing the pain scale.
