THE THE INFLUENCE OF PSYCHOEDUCATION ON ANXIETY LEVELS TB PATIENTS IN THE BUKETAN ROOM AT BENDAN HOSPITAL OF PEKALONGAN CITY

Tuberculosis (TB) is a public health problem in the world, although many countries have implemented various efforts to control and prevent it. TB is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTbc), they can attack the lungs (pulmonary TB) and other organs (extrapulmonary TB), Tuberculosis is transmitted through the air in the form of droplets (sputum splashes), so it can disrupt public health and cause morbidity/morbidity and death/mortality. This study aims to determine the effect of psychoeducational therapy on anxiety levels in TB patients. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a control group pre-test - post-test design. The sample size in this study were 22 TB clients, each in the intervention group and the control group, which were taken using a non-probability sampling technique. The study used the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) instrument. Intervention given psychoeducational therapy for 5 sessions for 5 weeks with 45-60 minutes visually and evaluating at the end of each activity. The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test. The study showed that there was an effect of the intervention of providing psychoeducational therapy on reducing the anxiety of TB patients with p = 0.000 and 0.001 (p <0.05). Psychoeducational therapy carried out in 5 sessions for 5 weeks in 40-60 minutes can have an effect on reducing the anxiety of tuberculosis patients.References
